Fonseca pleased with commanding win over Istanbul Basaksehir
With the victory, Roma have jumped to eight points on the table and they are currently trailing Borussia Monchengladbach on the head-to-head record after the controversial penalty which handed the German side with a stoppage time draw at the Stadio Olimpico earlier this season. Their final group stage will come against Austrian outfit Wolfsburg at home and they should be favourites to progress to the round of 16 stage with a win.
Meanwhile, Roma have picked up their league form after a slow beginning to the season and they are currently occupying the fourth position in the standings with a nine-point gap to league leaders Inter Milan. A title challenge seems a distant prospect at the moment but they have improved defensively of late with two clean sheets in the past five league games.
Next up, they have an away trip to table-toppers Inter and the match should provide a test of their title credentials. The Nerazzurri have dropped points in just two matches during the opening 14 games but the Giallorossi should provide a strong challenge, having played out draws against them in the past three league meetings.
