Kolo Toure make record of not facing a loss in last Premier League Season
Former Arsenal defender Kolo Toure is one of the few players to have gone to an entire Premier League season without defeat.
The famous 2003-04 team of Arsenal is popularly known as the Invincibles as result of staying unbeaten throughout the 38 game season. This is not only occurrence in recent history when an English team has achieved this feat. There have been several teams that have started the league campaign without a defeat. Manchester City are one of the most recent teams to have gone past the 10 match mark without defeat.
The current Chelsea team have also received rave reviews for the way they have begun the season. Amidst a sea of mediocrity that also includes the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United, Chelsea have been the imperious team this campaign. They managed to go 11 matches without defeat after a 2-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday. This also helped them establish a superior eight-point advantage over City, who are third in the table. Touré says that this Chelsea team have shown enough belief to suggest that they may come close to matching the Invincibles.
Even though many have suggested the prospect of emulating Arsenal, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho remains firmly grounded. He says that no Premier League team can match the Arsenal Invincibles because the league is now extremely competitive.“They have a good team and with the squad they have of course they can do it. But it's not the only quality. It is about mentality. Every game is challenging and sometimes things don't go well for you but you need to be able to come back and carry on fighting. The season has just started. We will see. It's a great chance (for Liverpool to end the unbeaten run) but the most important thing is we want to win the game,” said Toure.
