Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has said that he has received a number of offers from his club across Europe. The 27-year-old defender has been linked with a move away from the club after he has grown frustrated about the lack of the Champions League football for the past three seasons at Anfield.

Liverpool have finished in the sixth, seventh, and the eighth position in the last three seasons. They have recently appointed the former Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers, who has also not expressed confidence that the club will be able to finish in the top four this season. As a result, Martin Skrtel continues to be linked with various clubs across Europe.

The 27-year-old was voted as the player of the year by the club last season. He was instrumental in helping the club win their first major trophy – the Carling cup – the last season. Liverpool also reached the final of the FA Cup – a match in which they lost to Chelsea. A number of clubs including Manchester city and AC Milan have been linked with a move for the Slovakian defender. Speaking ahead of the pre-season training, he also explained that he has received a number of offers and that he will be sitting down and talking with the new manager over his future.

"There exists a number of offers but without the permission of Liverpool nothing can move forward. We have been in talks about a new contract but it has not moved forward. At the moment I am a Liverpool player and what happens in future in football you can never foresee. Thanks to him, the atmosphere within the club has changed. It is now more relaxed. He told us right on the first training session we had the door open any time and anything we need we should come to him. He is a little bit different from Dalglish in this," said Skrtel.
