Liverpool players appear to be on the verge of exit the club
A number of Liverpool players appear to be on the verge of exit the club alongside Steven Gerrard. One of the names on this list is defender Martin Skrtel, who has been a regular first-team player for the club for more than five years.
The Slovakian has not only helped the club in the defensive area, but he also contributes heavily by scoring goals at the other end. However, he appears to have fallen out with manager Brendan Rodgers over his indifferent performances this season. There have been times when Skrtel has looked extremely shaky and this has cost him a place in the starting line-up.
The lack of consistency has also increased the transfer rumours around the player. Skrtel’s contract comes to an end next season and the Liverpool are thought to have been willing to offer the player and new contract a few months ago. However, this stance has changed in recent times with Skrtel yet to get the new deal. Other players whose future at the club is under doubt include Kolo Toure and Raheem Sterling. While the former is out of contract at the end of the campaign, Sterling is being seen as a transfer target for the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid.
“The only offer which is lying on Martin Skrtel’s table right now is the extension of his contract from Liverpool. We have been working on the details, and we will be finalising it soon.It is not true that he has some offer from the German club. I don’t know anything even about their interest,” said the player’s agent, Karol Csonto. “I am not leaving anywhere. Not to Wolfsburg nor to Naples,” said the player himself. Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson recently signed a new long-term contract worth around £ 100,000 per week.
