KLOPP LABELLED BEST MANAGER BY SKRTEL

Istanbul Basaksehir defender Martin Skrtel has hailed Liverpool manager JurgenKlopp as the best manager in the world and that the German is a cut above his colleagues. Martin Skrtel praised JurgenKlopp during an interview with Turkish publication AA earlier this year as he disclosed that JurgenKlopp is a master at motivating people. Martin Skrtel played for Klopp for some months and that was enough for the German tactician to leave a lasting impression on the Slovakian international centre back.

Martin Skrtel signed for Liverpool in January 2008 from Zenit St. Petersburg in a £6.5m deal. The 35-year-old went on to make 320 appearances for the Reds over an eight-year period before he left for Turkish outfit Fenerbahce in a £5m deal. He scored 17 goals for Liverpool before he left for Turkey in July 2016. He featured in 22 games during the debut season of JurgenKlopp at Liverpool before leaving the club.

On his toughest opponent, Martin Skrtel told the Turkish publication that Chelsea legend Didier Drogba is the toughest opponent he faced during the course of his career. According to him, Drogba was difficult to defend against. Martin Skrtel is in awe of the present Liverpool squad, which has a world class manager in Klopp and world class players like Virgil Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and many more. When pressed to pick the best amongst the trio of JurgenKlopp, Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, Martin Skrtel was emphatic in his answer as he went for JurgenKlopp partly due to his affiliation with Liverpool.
Martin Skrtel was at Fenerbahce for three years before signing for Atalanta in the Italian top flight. He then cancelled his Atalanta contract three weeks after signing as he said he found it difficult to adapt to the Bergamo club. Atalanta officials attributed his decision to his wife who didn't want to move to Bergamo. He returned to Turkey to sign for Istanbul Basaksehir some days after his Atalanta contract was terminated by mutual consent.
